     About Us

Dickens-and-London.com was created by Susan Gane, following up her love of Dickens, London, the history of poorer people and modern architecture.

Susan Gane was born in Johannesburg South Africa descended from English and Irish stock and is now in her sixites.  She has lived in London for over thirty years, at first sharing a series of apartments in the inner suburbs, living in West Kensington (the wrong side of the tracks from wealthy and fashionable Kensington), Kilburn, Highgate, Clapham and  Wandsworth.

Susan is single, and interested in walking, literature and history. She has re-read all of Dickens novels and is a member of the Dickens Fellowship, the London Society and the Friends of the City Churches.  She has an MA in Victorian Studies from Birkbeck, London University, and is an expert in the history of the East End, and  a qualified City of London Guide.  Click on FAQs for more details of walks.
